Shopify product personalizer comparisonKastomise vs Zakeke

Zakeke is the most complete platform here: a 2D designer with a live 3D preview, a 3D configurator, AR, AI tools and over 80 languages across a dozen platforms, from US$69.90 a month plus 1.5–1.9% of every item sold. Kastomise does less, for less: a free plan, no fees on your sales, CMYK print files with an embedded colour profile on every plan, and a 3D view of the finished design on Pro.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Kastomise if…

  • You don’t want a percentage of every sale going to your personalizer: Kastomise has no per-order fees.
  • You want CMYK PDFs with an embedded colour profile on every plan, not only the higher tiers.
  • You want a free plan to start, and to pay by product configs rather than by revenue.
  • Designs must stay on brand: your fonts and layouts, on an exact print area with cutouts or fixed items.
  • You run a headless Hydrogen storefront and want a ready-made React component.

Choose Zakeke if…

  • You want the 3D model to update live while shoppers design, or a 3D configurator for parts and materials.
  • You want AR or virtual try-on.
  • You need AI tools, clipart, templates, conditional pricing rules or many storefront languages.
  • You sell natively on many platforms, from WooCommerce and PrestaShop to Amazon.
  • You fulfil through Printful, CustomCat or other print-on-demand partners.

The differences that decide it

A share of every sale or a flat plan

On top of its monthly plan, Zakeke takes 1.5–1.9% of each item sold through it, so US$10,000 of personalised sales in a month adds US$190 on Starter. Kastomise has no per-order fees on any plan.

3D: Zakeke goes further

Zakeke’s 3D preview updates while the shopper designs, its 3D configurator handles parts and materials, and it supports AR. Kastomise shows the finished design on a 3D model at the review step, with a colour picker for each area (Pro), and a 3D teaser in your gallery (Studio).

Colour-managed print files on every plan

Every Kastomise plan produces a CMYK PDF for each print area, with an embedded colour profile, at the resolution you set. Zakeke’s files are RGB unless you’re on Grow (US$129.90 a month) or above, where CMYK or Pantone output with an ICC profile is available.

Breadth: AI tools, templates and languages

Zakeke includes AI tools, clipart, editable templates, pricing rules, print-on-demand links and over 80 languages. Kastomise has none of these and is in English; it focuses on placing the shopper’s own photos and text accurately on your print area.

Products or configs

Zakeke’s plans count published products: 10, 50 or 100. Kastomise counts product configs, and one config can be linked to as many products as you like, so a range of sizes or colours can share one.

Where each one works

Zakeke connects natively to about a dozen platforms and offers an API. Kastomise runs natively on Shopify, including headless Hydrogen stores, and its hosted page works with any other store through a design code.

Pricing compared

Zakeke’s plans are US$69.90 a month for 10 products (Starter), US$129.90 for 50 (Grow) and US$299.90 for 100 (Scale), or 15% less billed yearly, plus 1.9%, 1.7% or 1.5% of each item sold through Zakeke, excluding tax and shipping. Its 3D, AR and configurator tools are included in those prices, and its trial lasts 14 days. Kastomise is free for one product config, then starts at A$69 a month (US$50 through Shopify) for 5 product configs; its 3D view is on Pro, from A$179 a month (US$127 through Shopify). No Kastomise plan takes a fee on your sales.

Kastomise vs ZakekeQuestions merchants ask.

Short answers about switching from or choosing between Kastomise and Zakeke.

Is Kastomise a good alternative to Zakeke?

It is if you want flat pricing with no share of your sales, CMYK print files on every plan, and a simpler setup focused on placing photos and text on an exact print area. If you need Zakeke’s live 3D designing, 3D configurator, AR, AI tools or many storefront languages, Kastomise doesn’t replace those.

Does Zakeke charge a fee per order?

Yes. On top of its monthly plan, Zakeke charges 1.9% (Starter), 1.7% (Grow) or 1.5% (Scale) of each item sold through it, excluding tax and shipping, according to its pricing page; Enterprise has no fee. Kastomise has no per-order fees.

How does 3D compare between Kastomise and Zakeke?

Zakeke does more in 3D: its 3D preview updates while the shopper designs, its 3D configurator handles parts and materials, and it supports AR. Kastomise shows the shopper’s finished design on a 3D model at the review step, with a colour picker for each area, on its Pro plan; Studio adds a 3D teaser in your product gallery.

Which is cheaper, Kastomise or Zakeke?

Kastomise has the lower starting price and takes no share of sales: it’s free for one product config, then from A$69 a month (US$50 through Shopify), or from A$179 a month (US$127 through Shopify) with 3D. Zakeke starts at US$69.90 a month plus 1.9% of each item sold, a price that includes its 3D configurator and AR.
