01 About Kastomise
What is Kastomise?
Kastomise is a product personalizer for online stores. Shoppers upload photos and add text on a live preview of your real print area, check the finished design before they buy, and every order comes with print-ready files. You set up each product once in a no-code dashboard.
What is a product config?
A config is the template for a product: its print areas and their sizes, layouts, fonts, and the options shoppers can choose. You can link one config to as many products as you like. Plans count configs, not linked products.
Can you set up my products for me?
Yes, as a paid service on top of your plan. Sign in to your dashboard (a free account is enough), send your print templates or specs through the quote form, and we’ll reply with a price. Then we write the product config and install the customiser for you.
Who makes Kastomise?
Kastomise is made and supported by Hotpot Digital in Brisbane, Australia. Email hello@kastomise.com with any question.
02 Shopify and other stores
Does Kastomise work with Shopify?
Yes. On a Liquid theme, add the Kastomise Customiser block to your product template in the theme editor, with no code. On a headless Hydrogen storefront, add one React component and a cart route. Personalised items go through Shopify’s own cart and checkout.
Can I use Kastomise without Shopify, on WooCommerce, Etsy, Wix or BigCommerce?
Yes, with the Kastomise-hosted page. Link shoppers to it from any store or marketplace listing. When they finish, they get a design code (like KD-7F3K9Q2M) to paste into your order form or order note, and you find the design and its print files in your dashboard. A store runs one way at a time: connected to Shopify, or hosted.
Will Kastomise slow down my store or clash with my theme?
The customiser loads only on products that have a config, loads after your page content, and runs isolated from your theme’s styles, so neither one breaks the other. You can match it to your store’s colours, corner style and button with no code.
Is the customiser available in other languages?
Its built-in text is in English. You can rename the Customise button and write your own label for every step. Prices and currency are handled by Shopify’s cart and checkout, so Shopify Markets works as usual.
03 Designs and print files
What can shoppers personalise?
Photos and text. They upload JPG, PNG or HEIC photos, pick a layout (one photo, two side by side, or a grid of four), and drag and zoom each photo into place. They type their own text and choose its colour and alignment, within the character limits you set. You choose the fonts, including your own uploaded ones. On Pro and Studio, shoppers can also pick a colour for each area of a 3D model of the product.
Can shoppers see their design in 3D?
Yes, on Pro and Studio. Shoppers design in 2D, then the review step shows the finished design on a 3D model of your product that they can turn and recolour. Studio also adds a 3D teaser that leads your product gallery. You upload the model (a .glb or .gltf file up to 50 MB); Kastomise doesn’t make 3D models.
What print files do I get with each order?
A print-ready CMYK PDF for each print area, with a transparent background and an embedded colour profile, at the resolution you set for that product (300 PPI by default, anywhere from 72 to 600). Download one file, a zip per item, or a zip of the whole order from the Orders page in your dashboard. There’s nothing to resize or re-place.
Where are shoppers’ photos stored, and for how long?
On AWS in Sydney, Australia. A design’s photos, preview and print files are deleted after 30 days unless the order is paid or the design is saved on the hosted page, and raw upload files after a day. When an order is paid, its print files are kept so you can download them again. Designs saved on the hosted page that are never ordered are deleted after 90 days. Kastomise handles Shopify’s mandatory privacy (GDPR) requests.
04 Pricing and plans
How much does Kastomise cost?
Kastomise is free for one product config. Paid plans are priced by how many configs you need: Core from A$69 a month (US$50 through Shopify), Pro with 3D from A$179 a month (US$127 through Shopify), and Studio with the 3D teaser from A$319 a month (US$223 through Shopify). You pay in AUD by card when you sign up on kastomise.com, or in USD through Shopify when you install from the Shopify App Store. There are no per-order fees.
Does Kastomise charge a fee per order?
No. You pay a flat monthly plan whatever your order volume. Kastomise takes no per-item fee and no percentage of your sales.
Is there a free plan or free trial?
Yes, a free plan with no time limit and no credit card. It includes one product config. On Shopify there’s no watermark on any plan; on the Kastomise-hosted page, the free plan shows a Kastomise watermark, which every paid plan removes (a small “Powered by Kastomise” credit stays on every plan). Paid plans don’t have a separate trial period.
Can I cancel or change my plan at any time?
Yes. Cancel at any time and keep your plan until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Upgrades take effect straight away. If you’re billed by card, downgrades take effect at the end of the period; through Shopify, they apply immediately with Shopify’s credit for the unused time. Configs above your new plan’s limit are paused, not deleted.
